Players and their styles

I'm guessing that you have a style all your own. When you sit at a table whats the 1st thing you do? Do you look around at the table ? Do you check out chip stacks. Do you see the loose and tight players or can you tell a difference? All these things are what make a good or bad poker player. When I 1st started I didn't care too much about these things. There was no money on the table so why should I? I learned very quick that I should pay attention. I started to notice that the big stacks would push around the smaller stacks. Everyone called it POWER POKER, I call it retard strong poker, we'll get to that later. Every hand they would raise or push all in. Why? Then I noticed the smaller stacks would fight back because they had nothing to lose. They would either be out or double up. These type players that will push hands with any 2 cards are the phish, they got lucky and hit a hand where they sucked out on someone and now they don't know how else to play there big stack. These are the players you want at your table. Then you have the guys that are so tight that they don't play unless they have a big pair or AK or AQ or AJ. I have learned that you can play too tight. When there in a hand everyone folds except the SHARKS, see they know usually the super tight player will try to protect his hand after the flop no matter what hits. This mind set is where they make alot of money. Say you have KK and you raise but have not played in along time you will get called. The flop is 56J rainbow you think, hey I have an over pair to the board and you bet, then they get raised well I'm sure they say I have a big pair, so what do they do they either re raise or push all in bad move buddy. See now their all in on a pair of kings, just a pair the second worst hand in the poker rankings. They flip their cards to see that they've been called with 56. Now there way behind in the hand and have to hit a king or perfect perfect to win the pot with a bigger 2 pair. It does happen but not often so they lose all there money on a pair of kings because they thought if they waited for a big hand they would get payed of. You can't play the game this way it will kill you in the end. Just say you hit that hand and double up, your still down because of all the blinds you have given away the entire time you waited on a big pair. Then you have, I'm going to the flop no matter how much it cost. This type is good for your bankroll, because most of the time they don't hit the flop so you can just take it down with a bet, if you get raised get out they hit. Not hard to tell when they do. So what type are you???? Are you the phish that can't handle a big stack? Better yet the super tight player that doesn't play any hands? No way better the I'm going to see the flop no matter what? I've been playing for a long time, and have seen just about all types. The best advice I can give anyone is be a mixture of all, study the game know the numbers. Always count your outs, and read your competition. Big stack poker : Play your big stack but don't push the smaller stack around. Remember they have nothing to loose, even with a big stack you still should not see more than 50% of the hands you are dealt. Not even that high. People are less likely to call if you show them some respect, so you can steal blinds easier. The more you play the more upset they become and will call with nothing. Big stack poker is a art. If you play it wrong you will be out wandering what happen. I see it all the time, someone gets a big stack and starts calling everything . Pow your out! As for me I have change my game so much over the years, at 1st I was super tight, then I was super aggressive. Just betting with my 2 cards not knowing I was beat. Then I started reading people, so then I went to being super aggressive with being able to read people. I made alot of money but was still not the player I wanted to be. It has taken me along time to play the game the way I do. After about 4 years I have become the Poker Player that I have dreamed of! I now can change gears at any point in the game. I can play with anyone, anywhere at anytime. To become a poker player you have to be it all. The only way to become complete is to play as much as possible, study people and there reactions to certain things. Look at how they dress and how they walk, hell for that matter how they talk everything will tell you something about that person at the table. I have been told that tells are not that important. I got some bad news, they are more important then you think they are. I didn't make anything until I could read people. They will tell you a story, all you have to do is figure out is if it's the truth or not! Easier said then done. I've had people call me a donkey, they've even said I suck at poker. I don't really care either way. Their just mad because I'm going home with their money in my pockets. So what are you? If you don't know try it all until you find yourself. Just listen to the story. It will all come with time. Don't get down when you have a bad session it happens to the best of us. Just pick yourself up and move on. Think about what went wrong and how you can fix it. I've made all the mistakes that I have talked about in here more than once so don't get down. Learn from it no one is perfect. Play the person not the cards that's were you will make alot of money. If you think your beat lay down the hand. Don't let your ego get in the way, theres always another hand. Lay down the best hand if you have too many questions. I live by my GOLDEN RULE: It's not the hands you play but the hands you lay down. Let them bet in to you when you have the nuts. Sooner or later they will bet when it's the wrong time and guess what? Your leaving with all that money.

DO WORK son....
